CONVAIR F-102A-55-CO   “DELTA DAGGER”       56-1013               32nd F.I.S./86th A.D.               SOESTERBERG A.B.                                 Soesterberg, November 16, 1967. The F-102  was quite a large machine with it’s length of about 21 meters (including the nose probe) and it reached  6,5 meters high  to the top of

the tailfin. The 56-1013 was the last F-102 of the 32nd F.I.S. to be camouflaged and first seen as such at Soesterberg on March 28, 1968.

The picture shows the 56-1013 at Soesterberg A.B. with the FC-code and squadron markings already removed.             Photo: D. Heinen, coll. C. Vermolen.

CONVAIR F-102A-70-CO “DELTA DAGGER”       56-1245       32nd F.I.S./86th A.D.                    SOESTERBERG A.B.                                    Soesterberg, Friday April 25, 1969. Here we are looking at a camouflaged F-102A: (O) 56-1245, on it’s way to runway 27-09 at Soesterberg A.B.

When the machines were camouflaged, the serial numbers on the tail received an O (from Obsolete) in front of it*.  The pre-fix ‘O’ ment, that this

particular machine was more than 10 years in service, since the production order was placed. In this case the ‘fiscal year’ was 1956.     Other vi-

sible new features were, a navigation light on top of the fuselage and new (straight down) pylons.

Listen to the sound of the F-102
Eight-minutes recording of four F-102’s taxiing from Base Camp to the runway on one of their final missions (Monday, June 2, 1969).
  1. *Seems to be incorrect:

  The pre-fix  ‘O’ would

  actually be ‘0’ (just zero).
